Website Kit Manual Revised Jan 2018
Using either library: URL: Defines the URL address of the image. However, you should always upload im- ages to your site’s image library; never link to them on your computer’s desk- top or on a third-party site (the latter is copyright infringement.; the former will cause the image to be broken for everyone but you). Alternative Text: VERY IMPORTANT! Short text that serves the same purpose and presents the same information as the image. Primarily used by assistive technology devices, so should conform to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 . For a discussion of best practices, see http://www.w3.org/TR/2010/NOTE-WCAG20-TECHS-20101014/ G94 . Width and Height The height and width of an image are typically automatically loaded when you load an image. You should remove these numbers. Removing the num- bers allows the image to be shown responsively—it will resize to smaller screens appropriately. Leaving these numbers in these fields will override any scaling your website can do, and may cause significant display issues. Border Leave this blank, unless you want a black border around the image. If you do want a black border, this field accepts pixel widths (e.g., “5”). If you want to remove a border, after one was set, put “0” into this field. HSpace and VSpace Defines the size of the horizontal and vertical gaps surrounding the image (whitespace). You can add more whitespace in pixels (e.g. “10”). You do not have to add both measurements: for example, you could add horizontal whitespace and not any extra vertically. Align Specifies the alignment of the image. You can choose from Left or Right. "Left" aligns the image with the left margin of the page and allows text to wrap around the right side of the image. "Right" aligns the image with the right mar- gin of the page and allows the text to wrap around the left side of the image.
