OTHER RESEARCH DATABASES
OPLIN can provide remote access to nearly any subscription database a library purchases.
EZproxy / IP Authentication
OPLIN hosts an EZproxy instance for every Ohio library. Library patrons can gain remote access to databases using their library card and PIN. To get started, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the database title and starting point URL. We'll respond with your proxy IP to provide the vendor, and an authentication URL to publish on your website.
Examples: NoveList, Gale Legal Forms, NewsBank, ConsumerReports, Morningstar, etc
SIP2 / PatronAPI Authentication
OPLIN offers Mask, a secure API compatible with SIP2 and PatronAPI authentication. To authenticate databases that support SIP2 or PatronAPI, email email@example.com, and provide us with your vendor's authenticaiton intake form. We'll respond with the authentication portion completed for compatibility between OPLIN Mask and your vendor.
Examples: Hoopla, OverDrive, Kanopy, Freegal, etc
Password Protected Link
Some subscriptions require that libraries publish a password-protected link. OPLIN can support this requirement by providing a non-proxied landing page that requires patrons to input library card and PIN before gaining access to the link. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with the database name and secret link, and we'll reply with an authentication URL to publish on your website.
Examples: Wall Street Journal, etc
